Hello everyone👋. Very happy to share with you all, I have joined NCR Corporation yesterday as a Software Intern. I want to share with you my experience starting from online challenge to HR round. So Let’s jump in.

1. Online Challenge

The very first round Campus CodeWars’19 an online challenge, of course to make our hands dirty by solving some Data Structure and Algorithm based problems. They hosted their hiring process on Hackerearth, which I found really helpful compared to other online coding platforms, as they host several recruitment opportunities and hackathons on cutting edge technologies regularly.

The challenge is restricted to C++, Java, C# and we need to solve two coding problems along with 10 MCQ’s on Data Structures and Algorithms.

I am able to solve those challenges and received a mail saying, I am shortlisted..🥳🎉

DECISION TO MAKE 🤷‍♂️

Following my eligibility, I have received call from NCR team. Here’s the twist😜. They asked me to appear for an interview in Hyderabad. Guess what, that’s the day exactly between two of my semester examinations😐😐.

I have decided to attend the interview any way. But there are people I need to thank here. As always, my friend got my back and pushed me to make 💯 percent out of this opportunity. I also need to thank NCR team and our TPO Vamsi Kiran Sir, because NCR team ensured, I got my interview done as soon as possible and Vamsi sir motivated me to take this step, when I am in a bit of dilemma.

2. The Big Day

Here’s the day, I have boarded the train from Kakinada to Hyderabad. I have reached my relative’s home and started to NCR through Rapido. I have reached NCR and they welcomed us with cool drinks 🙌, but my intent was to go to HR, inform him about my situation and get this done as soon as possible and I did it.

Technical Round

Here come’s the most important round in the whole interview. I got interviewed on OOPS concepts, Data Structures, Algorithms and of course the problems I have solved during my online challenge. I have got some questions out of my resume too. I have been able to answer 80-85% of questions, and quite sure that I will make to the next round.

Some of the questions I was asked during the interview are listed below.

• Problems Solved on HackerEarth (detailed review on approach).
• OOPS in C++ .
• Common searching algorithms.
• DBMS
• Non Linear Data Structures etc.

But, I have seen many people getting a good bye after first round. This made me little tense and also made me to enquire my status repeatedly with the NCR team😂😂, only to listen that I have made it to next round.

Managerial Round-1

Here comes the first MR round, where I was asked the same questions which I haven’t answered in my first round🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️. Fortunately, I have got my back, with my habit to learn from failures.

As soon as I have completed my technical round, I just looked up for things which I didn’t answer.

Managerial Round-2

This is my favorite round in the whole process. The way the interviewer treated me was Awesome…..!!!. I am feeling a bit cold due to the temperature maintained by air conditioner. He adjusted things, got me something to eat and drink, made me relax. He introduced himself, which made me know he was one of the senior managers in NCR.

This is the only time I used one of my favorite languages, Python. I was also asked questions about my long time goals, dream companies, technological interests etc.

I can say, he is one of the coolest interviewers I have faced until now in 10+ interviews.

The Final Round

The final round i.e. HR. I have only seen few people coming until this level during 6-7 hours of my time in NCR. This boosted my confidence greatly, and what else matters in HR round more than confidence. I was said You’re selected…🥳, and the only final confirmation is to check if I have written the online challenge, through the web cam used as part of process.

I would like to quote My whole learning from the whole interview process.

Believe in yourself, Learn from your mistakes as soon as you can. Confidence is the greatest asset.
